The Electromagnets EM-30 is simple ‘U’ shaped electromagnets. The air- gap is continuously variable with two way knobbed wheel screw adjusting system and the pole are then locked in any position allowing quick and easy air-gap adjustment to suit individual experiment. Two continuous wound excitation coils are mounted on two poles and are fitted to yoke arms.

Energizing coils are located on respective poles. The coils are thermally insulated from the iron circuit with the result that field is practically unaffected by temperature changes. The coil itself is built up in sandwiched technique using several double pancakes which are led separately to the outside. Each double pancake contains one cooling circuit. All cooling circuits are connected in parallel.

A wide range of pole caps are available or use with the basic magnet. Especially for NMR and ESR experiments maximum field strength and highest homogeneity can be obtained. All pole caps are carefully heat treated ground and polished to get necessary precision.
